This tray functions as a storage box, drawing inspiration from modern art elements. It combines the simplicity of Constructivist structures with a Mondrian-inspired color scheme, reflecting the visual culture of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Viewed from above, it resembles a painting, while from the side, it evokes the silhouette of New York’s city skyline. This is the second vision, featuring a more refined structure with a focus on bold color contrasts.

Think about it—when entering or leaving home, there are always essential items to pick up or put down. But do we really need a tray-like container that cages everything in like a box? Perhaps all we need is a designated space, subtly defined, to reinforce the habit of placing items there.
Incorporating specific slots for pens not only adds functionality but also elevates the aesthetic appeal of the tray. This thoughtful design choice ensures that pens are always within reach, while also contributing to the overall harmony and balance of the piece.
The final design adopts a Mondrian-inspired color scheme, aligning with the MoMA modern art aesthetic. It features a simple yet striking combination of red, yellow, blue, and complementary shades for a balanced composition.
