This is a tabletop plate design that incorporates experiential elements related to gesture. I drew inspiration from common behaviors in Chinese and broader Asian cultures, such as humility and etiquette. Growing up, my mother often reminded me to offer the best food to guests first. This deeply influenced my feelings and approach to this design.

Integrating the act of humility into a fruit plate encourages people to share and interact, fostering closer connections
I want to create an interesting interaction through mutual concession: imagine what happens when two people go through a door together? People will give way to each other, each wanting the other to go first. This project is designed to facilitate such physical behavior, thereby making people realize the importance of sharing.
The Very First Concept
A round base is not stable, causing the plate to be knocked over.
The Second Concept
I gave up on dividing the plate into two parts and attempted to facilitate interaction on a single plate.
Balance Test
Balance testing should not only focus on the empty plate but also consider its stability when filled with food.
Full size Test
Use foam core for large-scale testing to evaluate the feasibility of balance.
Final Design
To ensure stability, additional balance points were necessary. A third variation was introduced to maintain aesthetic appeal.
A more curvilinear design.
