(01).
We wanted to create a public space where people can play together and communicate together.
In the post-pandemic era, communication has become sparse. Public spaces, however, offer a platform for interaction. By leveraging installations in these areas, we can foster emotional connections among people, building a positive society and thawing the ice of isolation.
Our initial ideas were Gashapon seat, Tic-tac-toe and large vinyl record player. We chose to take the Gashapon Seat idea further
(02).
Gashapon machines are similar to the coin-operated toy vending machines seen outside grocery stores and other retailers in other countries.
People can turn the knob seat together with their back and feet.
(03).
Simplify the design to its most minimal form while maintaining its resemblance to a Gashapon. Add subtle textured details to emphasize the affordance of rotational functionality.
(04).
People sitting on either side can see each half, and they can talk to each other and get the other half. If you are alone, you can also turn to the other side and see for yourself.
Stories
Jokes
In the future, we envision Gear evolving into a diverse series of products with enhanced aesthetics and richer story content. Our goal is to create inviting spaces in every park and street, where people delight in exchanging and exploring stories. By connecting individuals within the same city, we aim to foster social harmony and evoke a sense of warmth and camaraderie among people.
